About Us

The Dinerstein Companies, founded in 1955, is divided into three separate companies:

• DMC Builders – a fully integrated construction company and general contractor
  
• DMC Management – a nationally recognized apartment management company with almost fifty years experience
  
• Sterling University Housing – a full service development, construction and management company specializing in off-campus student housing

The Dinerstein Companies is a Houston-based, family owned and operated company that has built and operated apartment communities in twenty-seven different states. The company currently employs in excess of 400 employees.

The Dinerstein Companies:

• The general contracting subsidiary builds each development. Currently, the construction division ranks as the eighth largest in the country.
  
• Since July 2004, The Dinerstein Companies has sold $1.2 billion worth of multifamily product and $1.5 billion worth since its inception.
  
• The Company is one of the leading “green” developers in the country with over $332 million in LEED Silver product currently under development.
  
• At its peak, the management division has managed up to 20,000 apartment units and 24,000 student housing units.
  

Sterling University Housing (SUH):

• Sterling is the largest builder and developer of off-campus student housing in the country, having completed student housing developments at thirty-nine different national universities.
  
• SUH has successfully developed fifty-one student properties totaling 31,000 beds.
  
• Since 2004, Sterling has sold forty-five student properties to a multitude of buyers including private investors, tenant-in-common syndicates, institutional funds, and REITs.

Central to the Dinerstein Company's success are three generations of family ownership led by principals Ted Dinerstein, Jack Dinerstein and Tom Caltagirone.
